Lord, may Your kingdom become my heart’s inner reality. May it be like a song inside me – vibrant life bouncing around my soul. A smile and a dance and a rhythm to bob my head to forever. A proper beat to live to, so I know how fast to walk. May it be a song I sing with my voice, my words, my life, and sung in actions of love. May its reality not be hindered by doubt, fear, or worry, or control. But may the sound of Your redemption come forth and change everything. May we submit our feelings and thoughts to You upon hearing the melody. In the way music fills a room, shifting the atmosphere, may Your song penetrate through our hearts and the bitterness we wrap them in. Move mountains in our mind. And when we get lost in the in-between, gently bring us back. God, help us choose Your life over ours. To know the power of surrender. To know there is a better way named Jesus. To fully realize what we are looking for is already here.
Romans 8:9, 11, 14
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
What makes us different from followers of the world’s religions? The Holy Spirit is the difference! Why do we keep talking about the Spirit like He isn’t here? Like He has to be summoned in times of worship or when we pray? The Spirit of God lives within us! He is placed in our hearts as a seal of ownership on us – a deposit, guaranteeing His promises to be true for us (2 Cor. 1:22).
Jesus said it was better for Him to go, so the Spirit could come. He knew we would need that unfailing connection, that deep intimacy, His indwelling life making possible what is impossible with man. My prayer is for you and me to know and live with the power and fullness of the Holy Spirit. This kind of power means “the ability to do” and I want to do some stuff. And so does Jesus. He wants us to show people He is alive. And He is alive in us as a perfect song written in real-time, exactly when we need to hear it. Spirit of God, penetrate straight into our being. Take us beyond ourselves. Teach us to love and to share the free gift of a new life purchased by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
